M.I.A Slams New York Festival Organisers Over Thunderstorm FearsJuly 26, 2010
M.I.A has slammed the organisers of a New York festival after they pulled her set due to a nearby thunderstorm.
The singer was the headline act at Hard NYC Party on Governors Island on Saturday (July 24), which also featured performances from Sleigh Bells and Theophilus London. But M.I.A's performance was cut short when organisers stopped the sound on the main stage due to the threat of lightning. She wrote on Twitter: "Money doesn't buy u s**t! I thought more money means better sound guys in America... I was wrong, the higher u go, they turn u lower! “That still didn't stop us! It's bigger then that!... f**k technology! Even the stage broke + parts of it fell off in the storm." M.I.A is due to head to the UK this week to perform at the Underage festival in London.
