Black Eyed Peas 'I Gotta Feeling' Achieves UK Downloads MilestoneJune 21, 2010
Black Eyed Peas' hit 'I Gotta Feeling' has become the first song to be downloaded more than one million times in the United Kingdom.
The track has achieved the milestone just over a year after it was released in June 2009. "It's exhilarating to know we are so connected to our Peabodies,” singer Fergie told BBC Newsbeat. "Hopefully the good vibes from that song will continue to brighten people's lives." The Official Charts Company said the feat represented "a very significant step for the download market”, which were first counted as singles in 2005. Since then, downloads have grown to account for 98% of all singles sold. In May, 'I Gotta Feeling' became the best-selling digital song of all time, with more than 5.56million downloads worldwide.
