Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner To Release Solo Album In MarchFebruary 5, 2011
Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner will release a solo album next month, it’s been confirmed.
The album consists of music taken from the forthcoming British film Submarine, directed by Richard Ayoade. Produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, the album is mainly acoustic guitar and piano based. A spokesperson for Domino Records told HitFix the album would be released on March 14 and is a “completely separate release than the new Monkeys album”. Arctic Monkeys are currently working with Ford in Los Angeles on the follow-up to their 2009 album ‘Humbug’. Submarine, which premiered recently at the Sundance Film Festival, tells the story of a 15-year-old boy who wants to lose his virginity before his next birthday and stop his mother from leaving his father for her dance teacher. It is due to be released in the UK on March 18. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Arctic Monkeys Cook Up A Storm In LA (28.04.2011)
