Amy Winehouse 'Has Been Close To Death Twice'January 20, 2009
Amy Winehouse's father has revealed that his daughter's problems with drugs have almost twice cost the singer her life.
In a forthcoming documentary, Mitch Winehouse also speaks about the confusion surrounding his daughters impending divorce from husband Blake Fielder-Civil. Winehouse, who has been publicly battling addiction problems for the past 18 months, has claimed she won't accept her husband's request to divorce her. Speaking about Winehouse's health, Mitch said: "She is better. She was close to death twice. We have been working a lot to get her to where she is now.” Mitch, who recently joined Winehouse on holiday in St Lucia, said he was the first person to inform his daughter that Fielder-Civil had filled for divorce on the grounds of her alleged infidelity. "I had to call Amy before she heard about it from someone else,” he says in the documentary, Saving Amy. “She asked me, 'Daddy, why does he want to divorce me?' I said, 'You know I don't like him, but I have to admit that your behaviour with another man is not what marriage is all about." Winehouse has been romantically linked to a fellow tourist during her holiday in the Caribbean. Fielder-Civil's request for a divorce was acknowledged by Winehouse's spokesman last week. However, over the weekend, the singer was quoted by one newspaper as saying she still loved her husband. (by Jason Gregory) See also: Amy Winehouse Too Busy Working On New Album To Party (29.03.2011)
