Amy Winehouse's Husband 'Chooses Prison Over Rehab'September 23, 2008
Amy Winehouse's husband Blake Fielder-Civil has turned down the opportunity to leave prison early, according to reports.
Fielder-Civil, who was jailed in July, was apparently told that his sentence could be cut short if he entered rehab. But Winehouse's husband is said to have rejected the offer, choosing to remain behind bars until he has served his sentence. “All he wants is a free reign when he leaves, which means living with Amy back in Camden,” a friend of Winehouse told the Sun newspaper. “But if he is turning down these chances to leave jail and get clean, it doesn’t bode well for him and Amy when he finally does get out.” As previously reported, Fielder-Civil was last week reported to have rejected the chance to go and live with his mother, Georgette, in Nottinghamshire, where he would have been monitored by an electronic tag. Fielder-Civil was jailed for 27 months after pleading guilty to assaulting a pub landlord and perverting the course of justice. He is expected to be released in December.
