Amy Winehouse Practising Tina Turner Inspired BuddhismSeptember 2, 2008
Amy Winehouse is reported to have taken up practising Buddhist relaxation in a bid to beat her troubles with drugs.
The singer, who was introduced to Nam Myoho Renge Kyo – a form of Nicherin Daishonin Buddishm – by one of her band, is said to chant for ten minutes in the morning and then later at night. “Amy has also been watching the interview clip of Tina Turner chanting on YouTube and she reckons it’s already affecting her in a positive way,” a source told the Sun newspaper. “She has a string of Buddhist beads that she chants with, which she keeps in a red silk scarf. “She says chanting is filling her life with positivity while she is trying to sort herself out.” As previously reported, Winehouse pulled out of a festival in France last week due to illness. Organisers of the Rock En Seine event are thought to be considering legal action after the singer withdrew just hours before her stage time.
